VYOODKUVV, Attest: President. I LB G. HYDE, Secretary. Chillicothe, October 7th, 1S99. Church wrangles and heresy trials have of late years been on account of deflections from the Bible standard.

The danger of Pastor Russell's new book, "The At-one-ment between God and Man," is that it will provoke some opposition in clerical circles because of its faithfulness to the Scriptures and its disregard of denominational theories and creeds. It must be conceded, however, that if the creeds of the dark ages suffer a little, it is at the hands of a kind-hearted and generous critic, and is in the interest of a most reasonable interpretation of Scripture along lines laht. have heretofore been vexed and strlfeful even to the extent of promoting wide divisions. If all theologians cannot finally agree with this presentation of the great subjects discussed-Trinity, humanity and the atonement laymen certainly will not be able to see why they cannot, except it be through a desire to perpetuate their various denominational differences and to avoid Christian Union on a broad, reasonable and Scriptural basis. Albert Douglas and Hon, Mills Gardner. I The Gazette has been asked Its opinion as to the result of the election tomorrow, a great many times. The answer has always been that we expect the election of the Republican ticket from top to bottom. The Gazette has no fear of the disaffected element, and but little of McLean's undoubted torrent of corruption. The Gazette has an abounding confidence in the good sense of the self respecting voters of Ohio who do their own thinking and vote as their reason and conscience dictate.

These men make no noise in a campaign, hut always control the result. They have never failed to be true to Ohio and her best interests, and they can be depended upon to-morrow, for the Republican course is righteous, and its candidates vastly superior in character and fitness to their opponents.
