Richard A. "Dick" Uhrig CHILLICOTHE: Richard A. "Dick" Uhrig, 82, of Chillicothe, died, while surrounded by his loving family, 3:00 a.m.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his daughter's residence following an extended illness. He was born August 1, 1928, in Ross County, to the late Charles and Laura McKenzie Uhrig. On November 30, 1957, he married the former Mary L. Seymour, of Chillicothe, who survives. Also surviving are children, Rex A.

(Angie) Uhrig, of Jackson, Sharon Thurman and her Tim Sams, both of Waverly, Ellen Jean (Gary) Bell, of Chillicothe and Diane (Mike) Fletcher, of Ray, OH; grandchildren, Tanya Yoe, Travis Uhrig, Brad Uhrig, Ashley Thurman, Christa Sara Berg and Brent and Heath Barrows; great grandchildren, Griffin Uhrig and Dylan Yoe; and a brother, David L. Uhrig, of Florida. He was predeceased by a great grandson, Tommy Merriman and a brother, Robert Uhrig. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired self employed carpenter.

He was a member of American Legion Post 62, VFW Post 108 and AMVETS Post 4. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bruce Hines officiating. Burial will follow i in Greenlawn Cemetery's Soldier Square where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. You may sign his online register at www.warefh.com Dean T. Hyer FRANKFORT: Dean T. Hyer, 89, of Frankfort, died at 12:14 p.m., on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born on November 16, 1921 in Austin, OH the son of the late Russell and Eva Stickley Hyer. On May 25, 1946 he married the former Gari L. Norton who preceded him in death on February 20, 1998. Surviving are his children, daughters, Evalena L. Stotridge of Chillicothe, Shari L.

(David) Spetnagel of Frankfort; son, Thomas N. Hyer of Frankfort; granddaughter, Lauren P. Spetnagel; brother, Ralph C. (Betty) Hyer of Washington C.H.; sisters-in-law, Jane Burt of Trenton, Betty Norton of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Garnett Sowers, Gladys Imboden, Louise Hyer; and an infant brother.

Dean was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War Il. He was stationed in France, Rhineland, and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal. In 1946 he opened Hyer Grocery which he ran until 1971. He retired from the VA Chillicothe in 1998 having worked in Nutritional Food Services.

Dean was a member and served as deacon at Frankfort Church of Christ. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of Frankfort Lodge 309-Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Chillicothe Commandery No. 8 Knights Templar, the Grand Council Royal Select Masons of Ohio Chillicothe Council No. 4, and the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 American Legion.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Frankfort Church of Christ with Harold Rutledge and Mike Free officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors accorded by Frankfort American Legion. Friends may call at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., with Masonic service at 7:45 p.m.. Hammond, age 73, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Heartland of Jackson. He was born the fourth of five sons in Glenroy, Ohio, December 6, 1937, to the late Andy and Dorothy (Parker) Hammond.

Keith was raised in Glenroy and attended Coalton High School, graduating from Wellston High School in the class of 1955. After graduation he went to Akron and was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber company. He lived with the Roy and Carrie King family, whom he loved as his family away from home. He joined the Gospelaires Quartet after giving his life to the Lord at the Barbarton First Church of Christ, then becoming a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ. He was employed by the Frick Gallager Steel Mfg.

Co. of Wellston, and later Mead Paper Co. of Chillicothe, retiring in 1993 after 32 years of service. He served six years in the United States Army Reserves. On July 4th 1964, he married his beloved wife, Janet Lou Parks of Jackson.

To this union a beautiful daughter Holly (Brett Jordan) was born on December 29, 1971. Keith is survived by one brother, Millard William Hammond (Barbara) of Jackson. Keith loved singing Southern Gospel Music and serving the Lord. He was a member of the Gospelaires Quartet of Akron, the Sunrise Quartet of Portsmouth, The Uhrig Brothers Quartet of Chillicothe, The Crystal River Quartet of Portsmouth, The Singing Journeymen of Chillicothe, and New Horizon of Chillicothe. He was a member of the Hamilton Christian Church of Oak Hill and served many years as Sunday School Superintendent.

Keith loved to travel and Loved America. He leaves behind a loving family and a host of friends. In addition to his parents; he is preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Harold Hammond. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Hamilton Christian Church with Pastor Larry Boggs officiating, burial will follow Hamilton Cemetery.

Jones, age 80, of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011. In her weeks of illness she was with her husband and children. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul E. Jones; son, Mark A. Jones, daughter Deborah E.

Jones, both of Chillicothe and daughter, Paulette Hadley, Treasure Island, Florida; grandchildren, Clint Jones, Columbus Ohio, Sara Summerfield, Ashland, Ohio, Bryan Cook, Largo, Florida and John Cook, Chillicothe; great grandchildren, Dawson Cook, Chillicothe, Karley and Kelsey Summerfield, Ashland, Ohio; sisters, Sarah Dyke, Tallahassee, Florida, Cozy Dixon, Columbus, Ohio, Paulette Helton, Waverly, Ohio, Phyllis Haist, Linda Kellough and Jeanne Yaharus all of Chillicothe; brothers, Gary Waugh, San Diego, California and Anthony Waugh, Chillicothe; and her special friend, Sherrie Hoffner. She was preceded in death by her father, mother; three brothers and one sister. Betty had an unbelievable green thumb, was an outstanding cook, seamstress, and artist. Frances Hamblin Kimberlin Cupp SMYRNA, TN: Frances Hamblin Kimberlin Cupp, age 89, was born on December 9, 1921 and passed away peacefully January 1, 2011 at her home in Smyrna, TN. Reverend Doctor Richard Schiemann CHILLICOTHE: The Reverend Doctor Richard Schiemann, 77, died Sunday, February 13, 2011. Born March 4, 1933 in Rochester, New York to the late Delbert and Ollie Schiemann. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Kaufman Schiemann; son, Mark (Sarah) of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Michelle (Michael) Nunez of Palatine, IL; and six grandchildren; brothers, Walter Schiemann of Rochester, NY and John Schiemann of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert Schiemann; and sister, Judianne S.

Blankenship. He graduated from Elmhurst College in 1956. He received his Bachelor of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary and was ordained into the United Church of Christ in 1959. He received his doctorate in Old Testament from the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University in 1966. He was a religion and bible professor at Catawba College until 1972.

He earned a Masters in Middle Eastern Archaeology from the University of London in 1975. He served local United Church of Christ churches in Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, and Virginia, and was active in wider church programs over 52 years of ordained ministry. In addition to ministry, Dr. Schiemann worked as an archaeologist on multiple occasions at different excavations in Israel, England, and Missouri. In his later years he was an avid amateur lepidopterist, and participated in national Audubon butterfly counts in the states of Virginia, Texas, and Ohio.

He also assisted with national migration counts of raptors in the state of Virginia. A memorial service will be held at Orchard Hill United Church of Christ, Chillicothe, OH on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Davidsville, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Eden Theological Seminary, Saint Louis, MO or The Bristol Village Foundation, Waverly, OH. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.

Gallagher CHILLICOTHE: Mildred F. Gallagher, 90, of Chillicothe, departed this life at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011, with her family by her side. She was born March 1, 1920, in Jackson County, to the late John L. and Eva Byers Brown.

On June 29, 1946, she married Everett E. Gallagher, Sr. who died April 20, 1961. Surviving are children, Linda (David) Schmidt, Patricia (John) Gallagher-Fiocca, both of Columbus and Everett (Rebecca) Gallagher, of New Albany; grandchildren, Trey Ragase, Andrea (John) Cough and Mark (Lili) Schmidt; a great grandson, Elliott Schmidt; a sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Robert Thornton, of Chillicothe; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Harry, Sanford, Lewis and Guy Brown; and sisters, Sarah Gail Barbee, Blanch A.

Mildred was a 1937 graduate of Chillicothe High School and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and Kappa Phi Methodist Sorority. Mildred began her teaching career in a one room school house in Ross County and also taught in Chillicothe and Columbus. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years.

Mildred was a member and a Past Worthy Matron of 0.E.S. Chapter 419, was a Grand Page, and was president of the O.E.S. Sewing Club. She was also a Past Mother Advisor of the Order of the- Rainbow for Girls, and was a life member of the PTA, having served as PTA President of several associations. Mildred was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association and Century Club.

Mildred was a dedicated mother who brought much love and happiness to her family, and was an avid gardener and sports fan: Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME, 121 West Second Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601, with Rev. Helen was born October 21, in Chillicothe, Ohio to former Chillicothe Mayor Harold H.

Brown and Erie Cook Brown. She married Thomas V. Letizia on November 24, 1951. A graduate of Chillicothe High School, Helen graduated with honors from Capital University where she was a distinguished member of the University Chapel Choir. She attended graduate school at Ohio State University, Kent State University, and Ashland College.

Helen dedicated her life to public school education, with over 45 years of teaching young people. She began her teaching career with the Chillicothe Public Schools, where she taught vocal music, was a vocal music supervisor, and coached boys' basketball. Upon her arrival in Mansfield in 1951, Helen began teaching music at John Simpson Junior High. She later taught 6th grade at Roseland Elementary and Sherman Elementary. Helen was the recipient of the "Martha Holden Jennings Scholar" Award in 1968-1969.

Upon her retirement, she continued to work with children by volunteering at Lexington Central Elementary. Helen was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Phi Beta, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Son's of Italy, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served on scholarship committees for the Grand Lodge of Ohio -Sons of Italy, Mansfield Lodge- Sons of Italy and the American Legion Post She was also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Helen was an avid fan of Ohio State football and basketball, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her husband of years, Thomas V. Letizia; three daughters, Marianna Letizia Brown (Steve), Nancy Letizia Shear, and Barbara Letizia Ross (Kyle); four grandchildren, Stefanie Brown Kellenberger (Kevin), Carly Brown, Jordan Shear, and Alayna Ross. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Erie Cook Brown; and brothers, Howard Russell Brown and Lt. Colonel Glenn 0. Brown.
